Sales Down?

It's not only regular season tickets that have gone down, even the most popular sporting event in the world has struggled.

Ticket prices for the 2009 Superbowl had decreased nearly 40% in some areas, because of the weak demand.

What Sports, and Why?

Yes, this economic crisis has taken its toll on pretty much every major league sport in the country. But there are a few sports that have felt the most impact on this evident recession. A few of these include the MLB, NFL, and the NBA. These organizations are the top money makers in the sports industry, and expensive ticket prices are not helping them at all. With luxury boxes and close up tickets exceeding amounts of a thousand dollars, many people wonder if its worth buying during these hard times. Actually, many teams such as the Detriot Tigers are pulling out luxury boxes and replacing them with premium seats that are more reasonable for average price ticket holders.

Also, the economic crisis will cause less people to attend games, which will put many small market teams in jeapardy as you could see some nearly empty parks throughout this recession

Even though the credit crisis will not have much an affect on the players, actual teams could be losing revenue during the upcoming seasons.

What Are They Doing About It?

Obviously the ticket prices are going to have to lower for most of these sports teams, but never the less, every major league organization will have to start looking into creating new ideas and make more money off of consumer products and television promotions.
